Whoever said travelling alone is boring?
I spent 10 days in Thailand SOLO and there are no regrets.
The best thing about traveling solo is you get to meet different people and interact with them.
Funny thing is on my way to Phuket Thailand, I felt like the only single person on the flight with couples all over hugging and kissing like there’s no tomorrow.
The 6-hour flight from Doha Airport to Phuket constantly reminded me of my relationship status (SINGLE)….LOL.
At that moment, I felt my stay in Phuket was going to be boring, but when I got to Phuket, it was the exact opposite!I met other single girls from different countries, got to meet people and also got to hear their hilarious reasons of why they love Thailand. Hearing “this is my third or fourth time here” was consistent and I kept asking myself why they keep coming back.
Well, little did I know what I was about to experience within the next 10 days.
Let’s get into it.
10 days in Phuket was truly an intrigued experience coupled with the fact that it was my first time in the Far East Region. Thanks to the App called “Momondo” it was easy to get one of the best hotels which is a 7-minute walk to Patong Beach and a 5-minute walk to Bangla Road. It was perfect for me because the hotel is close to the beach and the nightlife location (Bangla Road).
There are Lots of restaurants, strips clubs and live bands.
The street food is amazing, it reminds me of Lagos street food but this is a bit different.
My love for Thai food increased from a 10% to 100% in less than 24 hours after I landed.
Thailand is a place with a lot of activities.
I mean A LOT!!! There are agents everywhere with pamphlets but the prices vary slightly.
I booked all my activities with the hotel’s agent. It was kind of easy and there is a ride that takes you out and brings you back when you are done for the day. I will briefly explain all the activities that made my stay fantastic.
Things To Do in Thailand
This one is for the adventurous people 🙂
It is an exciting treetop zip line adventure. There are various packages to choose from but I went for the highest zip lines (up to 20) and the longest being 400 metres. It was an amazing experience dodging between gigantic old trees in a thick hillside jungle. There is also the sky walk which allows you to navigate the forest canopy with the extraordinary wild trees and plant life. I loved the fact that it is a “close to nature” experience.
Phi Phi Islands
This is a must do activity in Phuket.
There are lots of beautiful islands off Phuket’s coast and the Phi Phi Islands tour takes a whole day.
I was picked up from the hotel by the bus at 7:30 am and got back to the hotel at 5 pm.
I and other tourists were taken to four different islands, the pictures will speak for itself because the experience is something out of this world I cannot describe.
I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!
I used this opportunity to go snorkeling for the first time in my life. I would advise you to get the waterproof bags if your phone is not waterproof. I use the iPhone 7 so I didn’t care much. Took my phone into the water to take pictures and videos. I know I took a risk but I was quite impressed with Apple because nothing happened to my phone and it still operates on a 100% level.
I would also suggest you carry your beach towel, sunglasses, hats and sunscreen (very essential).
Phuket Fanta Sea Show
This is one of the best stage shows in Thailand where you get to watch the history of the “Kamala” people ruled by their Prince and his magic elephant.
OMG!!! This show was amazing because you get to see them perform with different sizes of elephants.
So unfortunate that cameras and phones are not allowed into the main hall, and if caught there is a fine of $ 5,000. LOL.
I loved the Thai dance, music and the colourful costumes used.
Simon Cabaret Show
This is Thailand’s most spectacular performance, one of a kind experience.
FYI, most of the entertainers are lady boys.
Again, no cameras and phones are allowed into the main halL. SAD!!
It was amazing and I would highly recommend this as it is the ultimate musical experience I enjoyed in Thailand.
This is not to be missed by tourists.
Full Day Phuket City Tour
To be honest this was more exhausting than I thought but the most memorable experience.
Why? BECAUSE I RODE AN ELEPHANT FOR 30 MINUTES.
I have always wanted to do this for years because I have this undying love for elephants.
The city tour consists of the Karon view point, monkey and snake show, elephant trekking, a visit to Big Buddha, Wat Chalong Temple, Cashew Nut Factory and the Bee Farm.
The visit to the BangPae waterfall made me feel like I lost 5kg within two hours.
Walking to the waterfall is tiring but totally worth it.
I was sweating all over like someone poured a bucket of water all over me.
Apart from all the activities I mentioned above, there are a lot more to do such as a visit to the zoo where you get to go bungee jumping and take pictures with the tigers and a trip to James Bond Island, kayaking and so much more.
I won’t advise anyone to go bungee jumping in Phuket Thailand because after my research I found out an accident occurred in 2015, a Kuwaiti guy died because the rope snapped.
However, people still do the bungee jumping activity in Thailand because it is very cheap compared to other parts of the world.
In addition, I spent some time on Patong beach relaxing and there are women who give Thai massage at the beach.
Water activities are also available on Patong beach.
A Thai massage is the best any day any time.
I had a Thai massage every day for 8 days.
I also did the fish spa for the first time and it was a great experience.
I cannot condemn any Thai restaurant I dined in because they were all amazing.
I would also advise you learn how to say simple words like “thank you”, “hello” because the locals are pleased when tourists greet them in their language and they will do anything for you to make you happy. Haha
I never expected the nightlife in Phuket to be so much fun.
I met different people every night I went out.
I went for one of the ping pong shows, spent two hours feeling talentless.
I won’t explain the Ping Pong Show on here but please google it.
I WAS SPEECHLESS!!!
LoL. It is once in a lifetime experience and just for the fun of it, I would advise anyone visiting Thailand to experience the “original” Ping Pong Show.
In summary, I personally love Patong Thailand.
It is a place to be for adventurous persons.
The welcoming nature of the locals, the mind blowing activities, the crazy nightlife and the delicious Thai food would definitely make me visit Thailand again and again.
The accommodation is cheap and I spent approximately THB 40,000 for everything.
I LOVE THAILAND!
Thank you for reading and DO visit Thailand.
